Toxic
Manchester 2017. A chance meeting on a hook-up app sets two damaged thirty-something hearts on a spectacular collision course. He is HIV+ and drowning in shame. They are queer and one microaggression away from a full-on meltdown. Born into Thatcher’s Britain of race riots and rampant homophobia and growing up in the shadow of Aids and Section 28, the pair form a trauma bond so tight, they might just survive it all. But sometimes survival means knowing when to leave.
Songs of the Bulbul
SONGS OF THE BULBUL, a new dance work by Aakash Odedra with choreography by Rani Khanam and music by Rushil Ranjan, is inspired by the ancient Sufi myth of a bulbul captured and held in captivity. The bird was bound ever closer and slowly perished through despair, singing more sweetly as its end drew nearer, until it uttered one final, heartbreaking and piercingly beautiful song just before it departed the mortal world. Thus ended the journey of the mythical bird, a tale of beauty born of loss and of freedom found only in the ultimate sacrifice. The beauty of this songbird’s melody serves as a metaphor for the fleeting moments of dance and an artist’s life. Rooted in the expansive music, dance, and poetry traditions of Sufism, this new work by two of the most outstanding Sufi Kathak artists performing in the world today emerges as a sensitive dialogue between the ferocious physicality of Kathak and the spiritual journey of Sufism, a path seeking unity with the Divine.

The full-length work is choreographed by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, whose work, 18+1, featured as part of Ballet Hispánico’s repertoire at LET’S DANCE INTERNATIONAL FRONTIERS 2022.
Lear's Shadow
A man in a dressing gown shuffles into the space carrying a box. Out of the box pour the objects, people, wrongs, jokes, mistakes, laughter and regrets that make up a life.
Over the next seventy minutes he is swept up by moments on the path that brought him here, to this great stage of fools.: the loss of three daughters, the loss of his knights, the loss of his fool, the loss of his wits… oh, and the storm. Don’t forget the storm. When The Rain Came.
“LEAR’S SHADOW” is a mischievous, engaging reflection on Shakespeare’s great domestic tragedy.
