Home to the Dukes of Marlborough since 1705, Blenheim Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Set in over 2,000 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped park and gardens, it was designed by Vanbrugh in the Baroque style and is also the birthplace of one of Britain’s most famous leaders, Sir Winston Churchill.

With over 300 years of history to share and one of the most important and extensive collections in Europe, the magnificent stately home has a rich variety of cultural highlights and an extensive programme of special events and exhibitions.

The total Estate expands into a further 10,000 acres outside of the designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and focuses on care for the land through sustainable means, pursuing net zero, the growth of the local economy, the provision of affordable homes, apprenticeship training and supported community groups as part of its ambition to make this part of Oxfordshire a fairer and better place.

Access Information

Mobility Impairments

- Where possible we make provisions to ensure the site is accessible for wheelchair, mobility scooter and buggy users.

- There is level access from the main entrance to many areas of the palace click here to view all locations.

- The Churchill and Stables Exhibition both have level access, please note there are uneven surfaces around the gardens. For all access needs please speak to one of our Palace Hosts

Visual Impairments

- At Blenheim Palace we have a touch tour that is available for the visually impaired. More information

- Glass doors have contrast markings.

- Some parts of the venue have low lighting.

- We have display information in audio and large print.

Hearing Impairments

- On the last Tuesday of every month free British Sign Language-interpreted tours are available. More information is available on the accessibility guide.

- Some staff have BSL and disability awareness training.

Road Directions

We are located eight miles north-west of Oxford, on the A44 Evesham Road. The Palace is signposted from junction nine of the M40. If you are using satellite navigation, please use the postcode OX20 1UL.

When visiting by car, please be aware that a 20mph speed limit applies across the Estate.

Free car parking is available to all Blenheim Palace visitors (a parking fee applies to selected third party events, like Christmas), with disabled parking for blue badge and accessible parking at the front of the main car park with a shuttle buggy to the Palace.

Further parking is available at the Walled Garden. Our car parks are operating one-way routes.

Public Transport Directions

Stagecoach Bus S3 and S7 run from Oxford City Centre to Woodstock, four times an hour, 7 days a week. Both start from Oxford Railway Station and pick up in Magdalen Street. Buses stop outside the main entrance, from there it's a 10 minute stroll through the park to Blenheim Palace. 

The S7 runs every 30 minutes from Oxford Parkway Station and Kidlington to Blenheim.

The S7 runs every 30 minutes from Witney through Bladon for Winston Churchill's grave.

The S3 runs hourly from Chipping Norton and Charlbury to Blenheim.

The First and Last Mile 411 bus service runs 2 hourly from Eynsham to Hanborough Station where passengers may connect with the Blenheim Shuttle. 

There is no direct bus service from Bicester to Woodstock.
