Westonbirt, The National Arboretum, known internationally for its spectacular autumn colour display, is one of the finest collections of temperate trees and shrubs in the world.
The 600-acre arboretum, managed by Forestry England, offers an unforgettable day out all year round, from magnificent flowering trees in spring, to sculptural and bright-stemmed specimens in winter.
Home to 2,500 different species of trees and around 15,000 individual specimens, Westonbirt is a place of environmental and historical importance, with roots in Victorian plant collecting. The creator Robert Holford was fascinated by rare and beautiful plants and helped finance expeditions to collect specimens from around the world.
The arboretum also has a natural ancient woodland called Silk Wood for you and your dog to explore. Please note, the Old Arboretum is a dog-free zone.
Westonbirt run events, workshops and family activities throughout the year, including their signature event, the magical Enchanted Christmas illuminated trail in November and December. Why not join a walk led by their experienced and knowledgeable Guides? A variety of walks are offered throughout the year, included in the admission price.
