A number of Tourism for All members have been recognised in the upcoming South West Excellence  Tourism Awards. The awards, which recognises tourism businesses from across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bath, Bristol, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, with this year’s finalists now being revealed.

All the finalists will then find out whether they have won Gold, Silver or Bronze at an award ceremony on 14th March and those nominated will go on to represent the region at the national Visit England awards later in the year.

This year, several Tourism for All members have been nominated across a number of different categories, including:

WWT Slimbridge, Gloucestershire | Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award  and Large Visitor Attraction of the Year

Marsham Court Hotel, Dorset | Business Events Venue of the Year

Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucestershire | Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award

Throughout the year there are a wide range of activities including wheelchair-accessible Wild Safari’s in the summer months to wild bird feeds in the wintertime, when the reserve is home to over 35,000 wildfowl. WWT Slimbridge have three SEND friendly sensory backpacks available from their admissions desk, these are free for visitors to borrow on a first come first served basis. Each backpack contains 4 fidget items and ear defenders can be borrowed separately.

There are mobility scooters and manual wheelchairs available, a shuttle bus to take you to certain points of the arboretum, group visits are available and we have a Changing Places Facility available for those who need it.

The whole accommodation has been purpose designed and built for accessible living and enjoyment. Our specialist room is fitted with a profiling bed with a H frame tracking hoist through to the bathroom and carer bed.
