Wherever you are in the UK, here are suggestions for things taking place throughout half term to keep the whole family entertained.

If you’re in the North of England…

This half term put the natural in supernatural at WWT Martin Mere, there are activities running from 21st October through to 3rd November which show just how super the natural world can be, with a witches’ wetland area where you can make your own spells and potions and a chance to carve your own pumpkins! Why not come dressed to impress for a chance to win the wetland’s fancy dress competition?!

At North Yorkshire Moors Railway, there’s loads going on to entertain you. From Spooky Station Stories to making your own wands, potions and broomsticks, it’s a truly magical experience. Find out more here.

If you’re in the South of England…

There’s some spooky goings on this half term at Devon’s Crealy Theme Park and Resort. Spookfest is running throughout October and into November and features new attractions for this year, as well as free pumpkins for every child! Find out more and book tickets here

The entire site is accessible for most people, offering level pathways across the Zoo. We have our Learn & Play Area with play equipment specially adapted for wheelchair users. At Hertfordshire Zoo we are committed to making our zoo accessible to all, so as a part of an effort to increase our accessibility for visitors who are blind or partially sighted we have worked with Guide Dogs to deliver training across our site.

Longleat

While Longleat has differing terrains and inclines, the majority of our grounds and attractions are very accessible. Manual wheelchairs can be reserved in advance of your visit, and mobility scooters are available to hire both in advance and on the day.

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) offers four fully accessible ‘fuss-free’ coaches - part of its long-term initiative to make the heritage railway attraction accessible to all thanks to funding secured from the Yorkshire’s Magnificent Journey project (YMJ).

Free wheelchairs are available at the centre. There is a mobility scooter available to hire. A £10 non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking of the mobility scooter.
